Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is the flagship Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, USA. Although its mash bill meets the legal definition of bourbon, it is classified as Tennessee whiskey because it undergoes the Lincoln County Process—a charcoal mellowing step in which the new spirit is filtered through approximately 10 feet (3 meters) sugar maple charcoal before aging in new charred American oak barrels.
This process gives Jack Daniel's its signature smooth, mellow character, balancing notes of vanilla, caramel, toasted oak, and banana. Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is an excellent all-round whiskey, equally enjoyable neat, on the rocks, or in mixed drinks
